What can you expect?

A fun, free, family friendly event! This event will be great opportunity to swap seeds, get inspired about growing at home and will really kick-start the season. With talks, information stands, seed swapping, refreshments and a warm welcome to all.

Don’t worry if you don’t have seed to swap, everyone is welcome – although bringing seeds will definitely help make the event a great success!

When you arrive at the Queen’s Hall our volunteers will guide you on where to place your seeds and how to enjoy the swap!

Patch of the Planet is a local project which believes every patch of ground wants and deserves to thrive. They design gardens and community spaces and run workshops and courses, all focused on the creation of spaces that work for people, nature and planet. So far they have designed and created nearly fifty gardens in England and Wales, including designing Cilrath Acre in Narberth. Neil and Dina from Patch of the Planet will be covering tips and tricks to attract and work with nature in your own patch.

Title: The Secret of Seed Saving. Time: 12pm (approx 30 minutes.)

Before retiring to Templeton in 2013, Dr Robin Probert had worked at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for 37 years where he was head of Seed Conservation and Technology at The Millennium Seed Bank, described by Sir David Attenborough as the most important conservation project ever undertaken. Robin will describe the remarkably simple technology behind keeping seeds alive for future generations and will give tips on how you can collect and save seeds from your garden for your great, great grandchildren to grow.
