The Seegar Sessions Play Queens Hall Narberth to Celebrate the Life of a Much-loved Community Member

We are excited to welcome The Seegar Sessions to the Queens Hall Narberth this Spring to celebrate the life of much-loved community member, Isobel Owen.

I first met Isobel Merriman at a weight loss meeting when I was getting a bit chubby, many years ago. 'I hear you love Bruce Springsteen,' she said, as she signed me in. And so began a wonderful friendship.

Bel, as she was known, had been an inspirational teacher in Saundersfoot, a talented musician and singer, and one of life's good guys.

I met Bel at various concert venues over the years, and we spoke in depth about life, music, and Bruce Springsteen.

I needed to tell my story, and Bel was there. She helped in my research, and I met Bruce Springsteen in New York with her help. When my book was published, she brought people from around the world to buy my book from me.

She was such an ardent fan that she persuaded Jake Clements, Springsteen's saxophonist, to perform in her front room!!

And then she became unwell. She developed cancer. She fought it admirably, and we all thought it was gone.

I travelled to Dublin to see Springsteen about 18 months ago. Bel saw on Facebook that I was going, and she messaged me.'Meet me at the Button Factory the night before.' We saw the excellent Seeger Sessions Revival band there, and we met up afterwards. We hadn't seen each other for a while so it was great to see my lovely friend. I asked her how she was, and she told me,'Oh Ian. The cancer is back.'

Bel managed to see Bruce Springsteen for the last time in Cardiff last. She sadly died in the summer.

I have made it my mission to bring the Seeger Sessions Revival to Narberth to celebrate Bel's wonderful life and that lovely meeting we had in Dublin.
